Harvesting Machine starts destroying Bulga State Forest, 4th October, 2024

Forest defenders have been holding up the harvesting machine for days, but just minutes after arrests happened, the harvesting machine whirred into destroy mode in the heart of Greater Glider habitat in Bulga State Forest. It can and is destroying more than one tree per minute, with little regard for den trees of the Greater Glider. Thriving populations of the Greater glider have been found with their babies in this forest recently and over the past year, but that’s not enough to stop Forestry Contracts going ahead.

It’s on, what we all dreaded has happened, logging has started in Bulga Forest. We’ve documented the many Greater Gliders and Koalas that live in the forest but it means nothing to Forestry Corporation and the EPA regulation is weak.

Courageous forest defenders have been doing what we can, but we need help. Action will be ongoing as long as there are people to act. We are having evening meetings at 5.30pm at the Old Mill Shed, to debrief and plan our campaign. Come if you can.

The next important meeting will be Monday October 7, 5.30pm, before action on Tuesday.

There will be a shared meal afterwards and there is plenty of space for camping and some billets are available too, contact [email protected]
