Bulga tree-sit Diary  – Day31

Woke up this morning to a life giving mist floating over the mountain, creeping down towards this tree. So incredibly beautiful. The birds seemed quieter and woke later as well. There’s something about a misty morn that creates calm.

This stillness was shattered by a truck engine changing gears as it rounded the corner on the opposite side of the gully. Through a gap in the trees noticed it had an excavator on board. Behind it was what looked like a forestry ute. Not just stillness shattered, but the peaceful serenity of these abundant life filled mountains. Anxiety replaces calm. Despair starts choking my thoughts.

Three deep breaths.

Force my mind to come back from darkness, to remember that people power is stopping native forest logging in WA, old growth logging in Vic and NT is ramping up their campaigns as well.

We need to keep positive, not let this mass slaughter get us down. We are winning, bit by bit. Keep that fire for justice burning, funnel it into constructive action, whatever form we have the ability to use. Whether it’s collective or singular doesn’t matter. Just keep it up, don’t relent.

If you live in NSW, research state preferential voting. Vote wisely on 25th March. It’s a vital step in this long marathon.
